Did Sylvia’s Second Act really stem from a screenplay?
Yes. I was working on my second screenplay when I realized it felt more like a novel. Since I had never written a novel before I signed up for classes at UCLA Extension’s fiction writing program. I wrote the first half of my novel taking these classes over the course of three years.
When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I have wanted to write since I was six years old.
What inspires you to write?
I love situations that are both funny and true. The funnier it is, the truer it usually is. That is what excites me to write. In terms of themes, I love to write about people reinventing themselves to discover the person they are searching for is who they have been all along.
